It’s no secret that the US is made up of a pet-crazy populace. But a recent article by city-rating site Livability.com chronicling America’s 10 Top Pet Friendly Cities confirms just where the most die-hard animal aficionados live. Whether you’re a pet-loving resident or a traveler to any of these destinations, you’ll be amazed at the amenities now available for Fido or Fifi.  We’re not just talking about a dog biscuit handed out at the reception desk either. Think an abundance of leash-free dog parks (one city on the list has 50), special “a-pup-tizers” served pooches while their owners dine on tapas, a venue offering pet fashion shows where furry friends literally get to walk the catwalk, and hotels that roll out the red carpet for pets with extras like complimentary toys, bowls, and barbecue sliders.

If you’re on the road, some of the hotels with a reputation for pet-friendly accommodations include The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, where Fido gets the five-star treatment, including special bedding and bowls, and Kimpton Hotels, where properties such as the Hotel Monaco in Portland offer Pet Packages that pamper pooches and owners with everything from an urban map of pet-friendly breweries and restaurants, to a doggie makeover. All we can say is bow wow.

Thanks Ben for turning me on to the site. Very cool. My wife is more the traveler so she’s been loving all the photos and articles but I’m a dog person and she found this one for me 🙂 Great site – very cool! We live in Southern California, not so dog friendly 🙁
