No other city in Italy offers such fabulous Renaissance art, stylish boutiques, and cozy trattorias as Florence.  But nothing ruins a view of Michelangelo’s David like hordes of tourists cramming around this Renaissance masterpiece.  Which is why we prefer visiting during shoulder season, particularly in May, October, or November, when the lines for the galleries are minimal, the weather is pleasant, and the prices for hotels are slashed in half.  Want more tips?
