Have Tesla, Will Travel: Get Charged at Airbnbs

Tesla has provided free charging stations to several luxurious Airbnb properties in California, which means drivers no longer have to leave their prized cars at home on their next road trip.

Tesla at AirbnbTesla’s new ad tagline: “Be free. Go far,” celebrates the new partnership between Airbnb and Tesla, which includes premier Tesla charging stations at 30 high-end Airbnb properties along the California Coast (with more to come). This is the first step in a long-term partnership between the two trendy travel giants, as Tesla eventually plans to install charging stations at Airbnbs around the world.

When considering accommodations, Tesla drivers are often limited by how far they can drive on their car’s battery charge and the location of charging stations along the way. Through this program, Airbnb alleviates that constraint and provides access to charging for Tesla owners in the most unique, luxurious listings along the West Coast, allowing Tesla owners greater travel freedom when taking road trips.

In order to be considered for the free Tesla chargers, Airbnb hosts must have an average star rating of 4+ and have had at least five completed bookings. The hosts may have to pay for the installation fee, though they should be able to recoup that fairly easily since Tesla owners would be more likely to stay at properties with Tesla chargers. A comfortable stay at any of these beautiful properties should be a welcoming recharge for both car and driver alike.

Tesla Airbnb HomeAirbnb hosts interested in adding a Tesla charger to their home are able to sign up and check their eligibility to receive charging equipment.
