HOTEL BUZZ: Hotel Lautner Opens in Palm Springs

Palm Springs has long been a favorite hideaway for Hollywood, and the newly opened Hotel Lautner offers an idyllic weekend hideaway just a two hour drive from Los Angeles.  Originally built for a film producer back in 1947, the recrafted complex of concrete, glass and redwood is a mid-century design-lovers dream.

Designers Tracy Beckmann and Ryan Trowbridge took three years to transform the Desert Hot Springs Motel into this 21st century boutique hotel. Furnished with vintage pieces by Harry Bertoia and Warren Platner, as well as old photographs, this new oasis includes four suites which can be rented individually or together as a holiday house. The compound includes a saline spa and outdoor shower to enjoy in the warm desert sun and an outdoor lounge with fire pit.

Introductory rates for a limited time are $200 for weekdays and $250 for the weekends. For reservations call 760 832 LAUT (5288) or email info@hotellautner.com.com
