Banyan Tree Al Wadi Opens in the United Arab Emirates

Set amidst the tranquil desert sandscape of Wadi Khadeja, the exclusive new resort of Banyan Tree Al Wadi is an oasis of elegance and luxury only 45-minutes away from Dubai International Airport and twelve miles from the vibrant city centre of Ras Al Khaimah, meaning “Top of the Tent.” Nestled at the foot of the majestic Al Hajjar Mountains and bordering the Sultanate of Oman, Banyan Tree Al Wadi comprises a hundred and one luxurious, tented villas–each with their own private pool–and gives way to unobstructed views of the desert, while paying homage to the Bedouin heritage and nomadic lifestyle of the region. Buildings are constructed out of traditional mud brick with high ceilings and feature elaborate Arabic touches of lattice woodwork, stylized motifs, and intricate carvings. The property spans over 100 hectares, of which 60 hectares are dedicated as a nature reserve–home to local desert wildlife such as Arabian gazelles, camels, and oryxes, giving guests a chance to interact with and observe the local wildlife up close and personal. For the more adventurous types, guests can try their hand at traditional falconry, camel riding, wadi (desert) drives, or simply float along the rivers on a dhow (traditional Arabic sailing vessel) cruise. Other facilities at the resort include an 18-hole championship golf course, a private beach club twenty minutes away in the Arabian Gulf, a hydrothermal spa, hammam, and vitality pool, as well as two restaurants: Saffron and Al Waha, serving international dishes, contemporary Thai cuisine and Southeast Asian specialties. At dusk, be sure to head up to the rooftop Moon Bar to enjoy stunning panoramic views across the sands while you look out for Lawrence of Arabia.

Special Offer: To celebrate its launch, Banyan Tree Al Wadi is offering a special promotion of a complimentary night with a minimum of two paid nights. Offer includes daily breakfast and welcome drinks for two, and is valid for stays from now to February 28, 2010. Rates start from AED 2,101+ (approx. US$572.00U) for the Al Rimal deluxe pool villa. Guests who book an additional third paid night will also receive a complimentary 90-minute spa session at the award-wining Banyan Tree Spa.

Sadly there is a dark side to travel and in Bali the cruel dog meat trade is alive and well, PLEASE SIGN & SHARE and do what you can to end this hideous practice. Knowledge is power and tourism dollars matter a great deal to many of the countries that engage in animal cruelty so don't be fooled by many of the zoos and temples that use animals to lure you in and as a result suffer miserable lives... or worst, as below. Thank you! :(
