Oktoberfest Contest with American Airlines

Pull out the lederhosen and maybe you just might win 250,000 miles on American Airlines.

Time to get creative.

In honor of Munich’s Oktoberfest and its 200th anniversary, American Airlines has launched a contest: Leder Posin. All you have to do is snap a photo of yourself, your family, or even your pet attired in traditional German regalia and you could win 250,000 miles on American Airlines, which translates into some nice free tickets.

Oktoberfest starts this Saturday, September 18 and runs until October 4th. The ongoing party occurs in an area of the city called Thereisienwiese, a flat area in the Munich quarter Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt.  On Saturday, September 18th, the Schottenhamel tent is the place to be if you want to catch the official opening ceremonies. At noontime, the lord mayor of Munich will have the honor of tapping the first keg of Oktoberfest beer. And then the party and fine hops will continue to flow for days on end with six million of your closest friends attending.

Munich’s Oktoberfest began as a wedding for the Bavarian crown prince Ludwig to princess Therese from Saxony-Hildburghausen (hence, the name of the area Theresienwiese) on October 12, 1810. Today the Munich Beerfest traditionally takes place during the sixteen days up to and including the first Sunday in October.

To win Leder Posin, simply upload a photo into their gallery. Entrants will be judged on creativity. Ten finalists will be chosen and awarded 25,000 miles. One lucky person will win the grand prize of 250,000 miles.

So get into the Oktoberfest spirit by donning those lederhosen and start posin’! In case you need to brush up on your Oktoberfest vocabulary here’s the official fest dictionary.

Prost!
