Celebrating The Ultimate Pairing: Women & Wine

For the last five years, Women & Wine has been encouraging everyone from wine neophytes to serious oenophiles to explore the wonderful world of the fermented grape. Julie Brosterman, the passionate founder and CEO, has created multiple ways to get more out of wine, including a savvy social media platform where lovers of wine, food and travel can share their stories, offline events which provide forums for education, a radio show, tasting events, and travel consultation so women can get the inside scoop on globetrotting to great vineyards and Eden-like escapes. Their wine club features hand-selected bottles from boutique vineyards along with tasting notes from the vintner and W&W crew, along with recipes to pair with the wines.

As if all of that wasn’t enough, now Women & Wine has opened a retail store, Wine Valet, at Two Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, tucked underground below Tiffany’s in the famous Golden Triangle (enter the garage at Dayton Way). The 192-square foot wine boutique provides customers with impeccable service as its erudite concierge is ripe with knowledge so you can find memorable gems to take home. Think a 1993 Mouton Rothschild that never made it to the US because of its risqué label sporting a naked woman. It sold out in 10 minutes after being posted on the W&W Facebook page. They also specialize in small production California vintners with great stories. “One of my favorites is Elevation Sensation by Core. The vintner’s wife created the label with her lipstick,” chimes Brosterman. “I love Rhone blends and this one is Grenache and Mourvedre, grown at the highest elevation (3200 feet), 150 miles inland from Santa Barbara on plateau of sand. They make gorgeous varietals from dust. It’s amazing.”

Brosterman asserts that Women & Wine is about discovering unique finds. “We always say there is a story in every bottle, and we send people home with that story, so when they open the bottle they can share it and create their own memories and experience.”

Brosterman’s husband Marc runs the wine store and this cozy den offers an open invitation for wine lovers to come in and browse as they would in a family-owned bookstore and share knowledge. “It looks like something you’d find in the West Village of New York,” explains Brosterman. “It’s a completely different experience from visiting a big boxy warehouse.” In addition to selling wine on site, the store also provides services like cellar management or legacy collections. “If you want to create a collection that honors a birthday or anniversary, we are happy to help source those bottles for something special,” adds Brosterman.
