New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas

If you’ve ever wanted to experience Vegas at it’s biggest and brightest, there is no better time of the year to go than New Year’s Eve. The infamous Sin City will be hosting some of the hottest parties on the planet this year with some rocking bands to get the all-night party started. Here are a few highlights to get you pumped for a high-octane night of fun and festivities.

Top of the list will be the newly opened Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas – the final hotel to be opened as part of CityCenter – set to host an exclusive multi-day celebration featuring solo and mash-up New Year’s Eve headline performances by Grammy award-winning artists Coldplay and JAY-Z. The collaboration, officially called “Viva La Hov featuring Coldplay and JAY-Z,” will be broadcast live on the resort’s 65-foot digital marquee overlooking Las Vegas Boulevard which is closed to vehicular traffic for a street party that attracts hundreds of thousands of party goers.

Las Vegas Events (LVE) and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) will host the New Year’s Eve celebration known as America’s Party: Las Vegas New Year 2011, including a spectacular fireworks show fired from seven rooftop locations along the Las Vegas Strip. The firing locations (from the south, heading north) include the following resort properties: MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island (TI), The Venetian and the Stratosphere.

For the third year, Fremont Street Experience will once again host “New Year’s 2011 Tribute Palooza Weekend,” drawing crowds of up to 30,000 people. On Dec. 31, Fremont will host 12 of the best tribute bands from around the U.S. performing on three stages from 6:15 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The tribute bands will perform the music of AC/DC, Aerosmith, Green Day, Journey, Led Zeppelin, No Doubt, Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rolling Stones, Styx, Sublime and Van Halen. Also, Fremont will launch real fireworks under the canopy at midnight synchronized to virtual fireworks on the Viva Vision screen. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman will once again lead the New Year’s countdown at midnight. On Jan. 1 & 2, Fremont continues the party with “Rockin’ Recovery” – six bands on Saturday and three bands on Sunday.

Legendary DJ Grandmaster Flash will spin at the Island Bar at The Palms starting at 10 p.m. and going well into the New Year. No cover charge or long lines although guests must be 21 or older.

The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort will rock right into 2011 with a special New Year’s Eve performance by rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. The group will ring in the New Year on Friday, December 31 with a 9 p.m. performance.

Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel will ring in the New Year with many exciting performances by Kool & the Gang on the main stage, ONE SIX Sky Lounge with music spinning all night and Super Boogie in Marilyn’s Lounge.

American rapper Pitbull will perform at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay on New Year’s Eve at 9 p.m.

Sean “Diddy” Combs will gear up to host the hottest New Year’s Eve celebration in Las Vegas at LAX Nightclub, followed by a scintillating soiree at PURE Nightclub on Saturday.

GRAMMY award-winning hip-hop artist Nelly will host a blowout New Year’s Eve bash at HAZE Nightclub at ARIA Resort & Casino.

Ring in 2011 with chart-topping artist Rihanna as she hosts the most enticing New Year’s Eve bash at PURE Nightclub inside Caesar’s Palace. She will lead the countdown to midnight.

The BANK Nightclub at the Bellagio, Las Vegas’ most exclusive nightclub, will toast to 2011 with a performance by British hip-hop sensation Jay Sean. Ring in the New Year as one of the music industry’s hottest acts shares a string of hits, after leading a special countdown to Midnight with a champagne toast.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Mandalay Bay’s “Block Party” and enjoy food and specialty drinks from a variety of sponsors including Border Grill and rm Seafood. The “Block Party Pass” guarantees entrance into Mandalay Bay Beach where FOX will be filming “New Year’s Eve Live” hosted by Emmy Award-winning TV personality Nancy O’Dell.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Eva Longoria’s Beso steakhouse in Crystals at CityCenter with a lavish holiday menu crafted by Executive Chef Matt Piekarski. The elegant menu will include two seating options on Friday, December 31, followed by the ultimate New Year’s Eve countdown at Eve nightclub.

RHUMBAR, the stylish cocktail lounge at The Mirage, will host RHUMBASH 2011, an exotic New Year’s Eve bash under the stars. Set to the high-energy vibe of RHUMBAR’s Havanatone Latin night, RHUMBASH will offer lively Latin music, dancing and all-inclusive drink packages.

Tacos & Tequila at the Luxor will host the first countdown on the Strip with a New Year’s Eve East Coast countdown on Friday, December 31. Kicking off at 6 p.m., T&T will party like it’s 2011 with drink specials, a three-course tequila pairing menu and the official East Coast countdown at 9 p.m. PST. On January 1, the party will continue with T&T’s festive Mariachi brunch.

Renowned chef Andre Rochat will prepare a special meal at Alize located on the 56th floor of The Palms. The New Year’s Eve menu will be served Friday, Dec. 31 only. This exclusive celebratory meal is priced at $150 per person for the 6 p.m. seating and $295 per person for the seating at the 9:30 p.m. which ensures the ideal location and vantage point to toast the New Year. Chef Rochat will also offer a multi-course menu at his namesake restaurant, Andres, at Monte Carlo for $175 per person.

Marriage Can Be Murder at Fitz Casino & Hotel is offering a New Year’s package this holiday season. Patrons who attend the shows on December 26 – 31 will receive free wristbands to Fremont Street Experience’s New Year’s Eve party Tribute Palooza. Marriage Can Be Murder is an interactive award-winning dinner show that is also a comedy and murder mystery all rolled into one solid performance.
