Stratton Mountain—Summer Fun in Vermont

As the weather turns and flowers bloom, ski towns transform into yet another form of alpine adventureland with music fests, hiking, golf, tennis, and more. Check out what’s going on at Stratton Mountain this summer:

Tee It Up

Golf fans will be happy to hear that Stratton’s 27-hole championship golf course has opened early this year thanks to warm weather and good conditions. Drink in stunning views of the bucolic countryside and Green Mountains while playing the playing the Mountain, Lake or Forest courses, each with unique layouts and geographical challenges. Brush up those skills at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy which offers private lessons, junior camps and mini-schools. From June 26-27, the Stratton Golf Festival will host a public clinic with David Leadbetter himself on site and a Sunday afternoon tournament.

Saturday Under the Stars

Grab a blanket, picnic and friends for the free summertime concert series at the base of the mountain. The series starts Saturday, July 10 and runs through Labor Day with rock-n-roll, funk, world beat and dance grooves under the stars: 6 to 9 pm.

New England’s Concours D’Elegance

New Englad's Concours D'EleganceIn July, a weekend is dedicated to the classic car enthusiast with the 4th annual Concours D’Elegance. The Green Mountain road rally along the Ethan Allan highway ends at Stratton Mountain and, afterward, the concours-quality collector cars will be displayed at the Village Commons. In addition, an all-makes car show is open to all pre-1986 cars, trucks and motorcycles. Winners will be featured in Hemmings Motor News. July 16-18.

Alpine Trekking on the Appalachian Trail

Green Mountains, Long Trail Vermont’s Long Trail celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2010. Honor the oldest hiking trail in the USA that runs 270 miles with a eight-mile loop along the spine of the Green Mountains that summits Stratton Mountain, where you can climb the fire tower for amazing 360-degree views of the wilderness. Trip takes 5 to 6 hours.

If that’s not enough, there’s fishing, tennis, paintball, spa activities, kid’s camp, and bike races galore.  Stratton also throws a serious birthday party for the USA over July 4th with massive fireworks, village venders, food, and more live music. Happy Summer!
